An AMA (Ask Me Anything) post is a great way to establish authority on sites such as Reddit, Quora, or even other social platforms like Facebook–at times.

But here’s the thing.

A lot of people can easily fumble with their AMAs because they don’t structure their answers well.

Trust us, we’ve seen one too many a founder messing up when it comes to their AMAs.

This is why we built our ultimate AMA prompt–yes, it’s the best.

Whether you’re a founder, growth hacker, marketer, or an entrepreneur who wants to add value, we’ve got you covered.

We’ll make sure your story gets told …the right way.

What are AMAs and How Do They Help With Your Funnel?

Reddit or Quora AMAs are structured as live Q&A sessions where you open yourself up to professional questions in your field on the respective platform.

Sample AMA posts look like the following:

“I’m *profession* in *industry* dealing with *other details* ask me anything.

It’s great to think of them as virtual press conferences where the original poster gets to reply at their convenience.

However, as with any press conference, you need something valuable to bring to the table. So you need to position yourself as a thought leader ready to provide more value to the world.

So why are AMAs amazing to use?

They help at every stage of the funnel.

Top of Funnel

At the top of the funnel, they offer wide exposure given that Reddit’s – and even Quora’s – audience is brutally honest. This builds credibility as you open yourself up to questions.

Middle of Funnel

At the middle of the funnel, you allow people and prospects who are interested in your brand an opportunity to interact with you. This shows immediate social proof.

Bottom of Funnel

Finally, at the bottom, good AMAs can drive direct traffic to whatever it is you’re promoting.

Let’s remember now, that people trust experts who don’t mind showing up and answering candid questions authentically.

The Ultimate AMA Prompt

This AMA prompt is not like our other prompts in the sense that you have to keep going back to the LLM AI chatbox to answer succeeding questions.

The initial AMA prompt we’re providing sets the tone for the LLM at the very beginning.

Please note that you can only use this prompt after the first question has been asked, follow up prompts do not require you to reload this initial prompt.

Here it goes.

Act as a seasoned expert in [your chosen niche or industry], recognized for providing thoughtful, authoritative, and highly engaging answers on platforms like Reddit and Quora. You are the best at what you do, but you want to share knowledge.

This is the initial AMA post: ”[Insert post here]”

You’ll be answering the following question:

”[Insert question here]”

Customization Options:

Tone: [Specify tone here]

Target Audience: [Beginners, industry professionals, skeptics, general public, etc.]

Response Format: [Step-by-step, anecdotal, data-driven, myth-busting, story-based, comparison-style, etc.]

Guidelines for Crafting the Response:

• Open with a strong hook—something thought-provoking, unexpected, or immediately relevant to draw readers in.

• Provide a clear, structured response that balances depth with readability, ensuring the answer is both informative and engaging.

• Use real-world examples, data, or analogies where applicable to strengthen your argument.

• Anticipate potential counterarguments or misconceptions and proactively address them to establish credibility.

• Offer practical takeaways that make the answer actionable rather than just theoretical.

• Conclude in a way that invites further discussion, whether through an open-ended question, a challenge to conventional thinking, or a call to action.

If relevant, incorporate storytelling, personal insights, or humor to make the response more memorable. The key is to avoid generic advice—focus on unique insights, nuanced perspectives, and a style that naturally encourages engagement and upvotes.

I will be adding the next questions to follow in this same chatbox.

Analyzing the AMA Prompt Output

To test drive the prompt, we’ll be using the persona of a SaaS marketer in the healthcare space. We’re also using standard questions that we generated on the side.

For the LLM of choice, we’re going with ChatGPT given that almost everyone has a ChatGPT account even if they have a wide array of other AI tools.

Here’s what the inputs look like.

The first piece of output was amazing …albeit a little too long.

However, this was due to the settings that we used.

You can always ask to keep things short via a follow-up prompt.

We tried following up with our list of generated questions – along with an instruction to make the outputs a little more concise.

The following output was more concise and still kept on brand.

Finally, we threw in a third question, just for fun.

As you can see, the prompt is robust enough to handle multiple follow-up questions while keeping consistent with the initial answers that it generated.

What Else Can I Do?

You’re never going to get the output that you want on the first try.

So that’s where follow-up prompts kick in.

As you can see from our initial example, we set a limit on the number of words being used to keep things as concise as possible.

However, this is all dependent on your own preferences.

Here are a couple of follow-up prompts to help you:

  • Kindly limit the number of words to X
  • Can you change the tone to be a little upbeat?
  • Don’t add any emojis to the AMA replies
  • Remove unnecessary filler
  • Please answer the following question with a little more compassion given that [insert reason here], this is the question: [insert question they asked here]
  • What’s one way to answer this question “[inser question here]” in a fun way

Get creative with your follow-up prompts!

Takeaways

At BAMF, we’ll always tell you to make sure you humanize your AI outputs.

Why?

Because people know if it’s AI or it’s you.

LLMs are meant to be a tool to guide you in producing better content and it’s still up to the end user to make sure that there’s enough personalization to make sure they’re communicating well.

With AMAs you have the opportunity to give a “press conference” and showcase your thought leadership.

And we hope this AMA prompt allows you to position yourself as such.
