Welcome to the 21st century where AI practically rules the world.

Or well, the internet and the headlines at the very least.

And while most people are familiar with ChatGPT or some other big-name LLMs and have using them in their daily lives, AI now comes to LinkedIn and we’re all excited about the feature set.

Today we’ll be talking about LinkedIn AI features and how you can use them to not only possibly find a job, but also build an audience and even your market share.

Caveat: a lot of these features are limited to paying LinkedIn members, but trust us, this is going to be fun.

Writing Assistant (Limited to LinkedIn Premium)

When someone starts out on LinkedIn, one of the first things they have to do is write their profile.

And it can be a nightmare.

(That’s why we have so many writing guides!)

After all, writing isn’t for everyone.

Which is why the platform listened and LinkedIn writing assistant can be a savior

You just stick in what you do, run it through, and bam, you get an optimized and professional-sounding profile.

That’s not all, though. You can even use the writing assistant to craft messages when trying to connect with someone.

For recruiters, you can use the writing assistant to write out a job description for you.

How’s that for making your life easy?

Job Recommendations

Finding a job is hard in this economy, but LinkedIn aims to connect people with career opportunities, with one piece of data at a time.

How?

Simple, it takes a look at your profile and identifies what kinds of jobs are a match for you.

But what about when you have an empty profile?

This is exactly where their writing assistant comes back in, after the assistant helps you fill out your profile, it will also help you leverage that profile to find employment.

Build your profile and get job recommendations. Rinse and repeat.

And yes, it is as easy it sounds.

AI-Powered Resume Builder (Limited to LinkedIn Premium)

Most people will have just one resume to submit to all jobs that they apply to.

However, what most don’t realize is that despite having the same job title and similar job descriptions, most recruiters are looking for specific things on applicant resumes.

This is where LinkedIn’s resume tips come in.

You can just upload your resume to match against a job you’re interested in, and the power of AI has you covered!

The feature will give you tips and insights on how to enhance your resume, and you can even take it a step further from there and ask the AI to rewrite the direct sections on it.

After that, you can just directly submit your new resume to that specific job.

Pretty convenient, right?

Doing so will definitely help you catch more job opportunities.

Drafting Cover Letters (Limited to LinkedIn Premium)

Crafting a cover letter can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be impossible.

Some may choose the more convenient route and just have one cover letter template that they edit depending on the job, while others may choose to take their time and write cover letters from scratch.

But with LinkedIn’s AI features, you can make it more convenient while still having an output that looks like it was personalized.

Imagine being able to create cover letters en masse!

Just find a job, and use the AI feature to ask it to draft a cover letter for you.

LinkedIn will then take your profile and match it against the job description and give you a personalized cover letter.

(In case you aren’t sure how to do this, you can check the detailed steps here).

Just be sure to review the output for accuracy and edit it where needed before you hit submit.

Collaborative Articles

If you go on LinkedIn a lot, there’s no doubt that you’ve come across these articles that tackle different topics in different fields, areas, or particular skills.

Or, you may have even been invited as an expert to give your insight. But how exactly do they work?

Well, LinkedIn comes up with a prompt or what they refer to as “AI-powered conversation starters” and invites users that they deem as “experts” in those skills or fields to give their insight.

Then, these insights are turned into longer-form content through AI and as well as the work of their editorial team, to come up with what essentially are the collaborative articles you see.

Awesome, right?

You get to look into the minds and insights of the LinkedIn community with just one piece of content and you get some new pieces of knowledge, too.

…and you can leave replies which helps you expand your network!

AI-Generated Recruiter Messages (Limited to LinkedIn Premium)

For recruiters, LinkedIn is currently a gold mine.

The platform has optimized recruitment so much that even looking up a candidate has become convenient and is no longer the tedious process it once was.

With AI, LinkedIn has made it easier for recruiters to quantify what they want in a candidate and look it up for them.

(They even have courses on the new AI-powered recruitment features!)

In addition to looking up candidates, they can use AI to create a message for them to reach out in a professional, but engaging manner to ensure a response.

Now, recruiters don’t have to spend too much time trying to figure out how to reach out to a possible candidate appropriately.

Takeaways with LinkedIn AI

LinkedIn AI is definitely going to be a game-changer, especially for those who haven’t had the chance to apply AI leverage on LinkedIn.

In fact, this is not their first foray into AI, as there were many hints of them bringing AI into the fold with AI-generated articles the year before last. However, this direct integration is going to take things to the next level.

This is true for people who are just beginning to use AI with LinkedIn integrating LLMs such as ChatGPT into their workflow.

However, given our testing, it isn’t as robust as other tools and we’re sure that there will be major advancements moving forward.

For now, we’ll remind you that regardless if it’s an advanced LLM or LinkedIn AI, the only way you can drive the needle forward is to make sure you inject that human touch to everything you do.

You’re communicating with humans.

So remember that the human touch goes a long way!
