How do you build rapport?

By making a connection with your prospect of course!

And we all know that the best way to do this is to have a conversation with them.

But, here’s the thing.

Not all of us – even the masters of conversations – can maintain a conversation all the time.

You will have your off days, some conversations will have a natural pause, and sometimes you will need to be the one driving it forward.

And we at BAMF figured that it would be great if we built a prompt for sustaining conversations using ChatGPT!

It doesn’t matter if you have a conversation that’s dying down, you need help sustaining your conversation, or if you want to restart an old conversation.

This prompt can will help you out.

Sustaining Conversations is …Hard

Sustaining a conversation is difficult.

And the problem is worsened when you’re talking to a prospect.

The thing is, they already know that you have something for them.

But, you still need to build rapport and win their trust.

…and you need to do it genuinely.

Diving straight to your pitch isn’t an effective strategy.

It doesn’t show your interest in them.

And how can you provide a customized solution if you’re not aware of their background?

That’s why we built this prompt.

The Prompt for Sustaining Conversations Using ChatGPT

This is one of our easily deployable prompts over at BAMF with only a few placeholders for you to modify.

It’s built to be used on any platform making it highly versatile, and avoids any sales work, making each spiel an ideal springboard to richer conversations or a starting point for cold conversations.

I am a *what do you do for a living*, and my LinkedIn network consists mainly of *who is your audience*. I’m looking to establish a meaningful connection with *name of your prospect* on LinkedIn.

My goal is to initiate conversations and build rapport without any immediate sales pitch, as that will come later once we’ve developed a solid relationship.

Please provide me with *how many* short, engaging, and casual introductory messages, approximately *how many* words each.

These LinkedIn messages should be friendly and courteous to encourage *name of your prospect* to respond.

Start with an engaging first line and phrase them as intriguing questions about their work or interests. Also, please avoid any messages explicitly focused on expanding my network.

Before each message, please give me a one-liner explaining the gist and style of the message.

We start the prompt off with three main pieces of context for ChatGPT; there are namely, who you are, who you are reaching out to, and who your audience is. All of this is packaged with the general instruction that you have.

Next we move to talk about the specifics of the instruction and dive into its purpose.

We then indicate how many of these messages we wish to generate, we advise around 12-15 – being that you want a group of messages that you can refer to and pick out from. We also cover the length of each message, you want to go with around 75-100 here, prospects don’t want to be overwhelmed with your messages.

Right after that, we talk about the tone of the message, you can change this out if you want something else, but friendly is what the aim should be.

Now it’s time for us to add some limitations and structure to the messages we’ll begenerating, we reiterate here that the messages should not be salesy or talk about expanding your network – which is a common theme in LinkedIn conversations.

We then end it with a one-liner explaining each message so you can pick out a message at a glance.

Here’s the Output!

For the test output, we used our general template just to check if it could come up with something more specific in the process.

And, it worked so well!

Here’s the prompt that we used.

I am a digital marketer, and my LinkedIn network consists mainly of entrepreneurs and startup founders. I’m looking to establish a meaningful connection with “The Baddest Growth Master” on LinkedIn.

My goal is to initiate conversations and build rapport without any immediate sales pitch, as that will come later once we’ve developed a solid relationship.

Please provide me with 15 short, engaging, and casual introductory messages, approximately 75 words each.

These LinkedIn messages should be friendly and courteous to encourage The Baddest Growth Master to respond.

Start with an engaging first line and phrase them as intriguing questions about their work or interests. Also, please avoid any messages explicitly focused on expanding my network.

Before each message, please give me a one-liner explaining the gist and style of the message.

We were very surprised at the output that we derived from this prompt since it gave us a wealth of one-liners that could easily be deployed on any platform.

This prompt is already powerful on its own given the creative outputs you can generate.

But you know how you can take it to the next level?

Adding your own personalization to it.

Whether it’s emojis, colloquialisms that you use, or the way you structure your messages, there’s a lot of small things you can to make this even more effective than it already is.

(Plus, adding the human touch is always great when you use ChatGPT.)

Takeaways

There is no shame in using conversation starters to sustain your conversations on LinkedIn or any other platform for that matter.

Everyone experiences social fatigue.

What’s critical is that you maintain consistency.

That’s the only way you can build rapport and establish a real connection with your prospects.

And if you’re following proper ABM and any other sales protocol.

That’s the only way to win.

So have fun with your conversations and let us know how you’ve used this prompts to take them to the next level.
