Look.

Your social media posts don’t always have to be 100 percent original.

If all organizations and brands did that, they’d be understaffed and almost every writer would suffer from writer’s block.

What is the proper way to do it?

Leverage your long-form content AKA your blog posts.

Imagine.

All you have to do is create one piece of long-form content–or use something existing, run our super prompt, and presto you have 10 social posts ready for you to deploy.

In today’s guide, we’ll do exactly that.

We’ll show you how quickly you can create multiple social posts using our prompt to repurpose blog posts.

Why Repurpose?

It’s time we leveraged content maximization.

Think about it.

Most blog posts die within a couple of days–even this one will, too.

However, if you were to repurpose the content, you would keep the value of that content going for longer.

You can use the existing content from the blog post to create derivative social posts that can optionally feed traffic to the original article, you’ll free up your writing team to focus on other things, and you’ll be able to reach more platforms with different users.

It’s pretty much the most efficient way to deploy long-form content–

  1. Create a long-form value-added piece
  2. Create micro pieces from said piece

Plus, apart from saving time and resources, your reach is expanded because of your presence on multiple platforms.

And that’s exactly why we built the prompt to repurpose blog posts.

Given that most of the long-form pieces of content available today are blog posts, we created a prompt that would allow you to take these readily available pieces and deploy them on platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook!

The Prompt to Repurpose Blog Posts

You can use this prompt with any major AI platform such as ChatGPT and Claude. For the purposes of today’s guide, we will be using ChatGPT.

This prompt is designed for the LLM to act as a content strategist, this gives it some leeway to decide how your social posts will look and leverage each platform’s strengths.

At the same time, this prompt allows you to feed in the actual blog post making it easier for you to use by simply selecting the entire post, instead of having to feed it particular paragraphs it should focus on.

It does contain a lot of areas where you need to add customization which allows you to gather inputs that resonate with your voice. However, some of them are optional.

Here’s the prompt.

You are a world-class content strategist skilled at repurposing long-form content into engaging, platform-optimized social media pieces, and well-versed in digital marketing. Take the core insights, key takeaways, and compelling narratives from the following blog post and transform them into at least 10 high-performing social media content pieces—each tailored for a different platform, format, and engagement style.

4. Style & Customization

• Adapt the tone based on the platform (e.g., concise for Twitter, professional for LinkedIn, etc.)

• Ensure each format is platform-native (e.g., hooks for X or threads, deep dives for Reddit).

• Keep a consistent brand voice while testing different content angles.

• Include CTAs where needed to encourage comments, shares, or clicks back to the full post. [OPTIONAL: Define preferred CTAs]

5. Final Check

Ensure all content variations are fresh, unique, and not just direct excerpts—but well-crafted, repurposed content that aligns with brand identity and audience engagement goals.

The Output

To generate a sample for us to analyze, we had ChatGPT generate a blog post about puppies–to keep it as general as possible (and who doesn’t like puppies?) Here’s what that article looks like:

At the same time, we used some standard placeholder text making it seem like we owned a pet supplies store.

We also left out the customization options for each social post to showcase the power of the prompt even without you having to utilize every single personalization token.

The results were just mind-blowing.

Not only was it able to derive effective social media posts from just basic information and the main blog posts, but it felt powerful enough to provide customized content without the need for intense personalization.

The X/Twitter/Threads output works just like any effective post. We have our own thoughts on LinkedIn, but remember we’re working with a very generalized topic here.

We found that the IG carousel could also work with other platforms that hosted carousels. The short-form video script is a little lacking, but for a thirty-second promo video, it rocks.

The rest of the other posts look pretty standard, but you can always add a couple of modifications in the prompt itself before sending it out.

We found the podcast creation to be a little simplified, but it works well for an outline, and you can always prompt again.

Where Can We Go From Here?

Now comes the fun part.

We’ve already seen what it can do.

And if you’re like us, we want a little more personalization.

So now it’s time to do a couple of follow-up prompts.

These follow-up prompts should work to:

  • Add more value to a particular post that you want to work with
  • Edit specific posts it has already generated
  • Focus on creating more of a certain post for a specific platform
  • Create other derivative forms of content from the long-form post

Here are a few examples:

  • Can you provide me with a full script for the video along with other filming notes to create a reel that can go viral?
  • Can you switch out the podcast post for an audio note I can send to my top customers?
  • Can you focus on just creating 10 posts that I can use for Facebook?
  • Can you turn this post into a handout that I can use in a workshop or seminar?

Takeaways

Originality is amazing.

If you have the bandwidth to keep creating original posts then you should go for it.

But here’s what.

A good strategist can maximize the content that they already have. Not only is it an efficient use of resources but it also allows for an idea to last longer in the digital realm.

With this prompt and a lot of personalization, you can take your brand to new heights and extend your content strategy.
