In this guide, we’ll show you one of our most comprehensive prompts to date and fill you in on how to enhance content with ChatGPT.
(Yes, it’s one of our longest prompts ever.)
“Enhancing” Content?
There are a lot of ways to enhance content.
But for the purposes of this guide, we’re limiting our enhancements to two main sections:
- Enhancing the language of the content we’re writing
- Running basic SEO optimizations
The aim here isn’t to turn a sentence into a manuscript.
Our goal is to be able to take a piece of content that you already have and take it to the next level by making it more actionable, relatable to your audience, and easier for search engines to crawl.
(But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a prompt to lengthen your existing content …but that’s for another guide.)
Here’s the caveat.
This prompt isn’t a replacement for a proofreader, copyeditor, or fact-checker.
Think of it as your first line of defense before you pass it on to the other experts in your team.
The reality is, no prompt is ever going to be as good as real professionals who specialize in the tasks that you want this prompt to execute.

How to Enhance Content Using ChatGPT: The Prompt
Here’s what the prompt looks like:
I’m a *what do you do for a living* that needs to enhance a piece of content that I am writing for *who is your audience*.

As you can see, the prompt is divided into a couple of sections.
First of all, we have the context section, we use this to center the tool on the specific theme that it should be following. In this case, we told it what we do, who our audience was, our keywords, and specific requests we had.

In the next section, we included the exact instructions on what it should be doing to enhance the text. We made sure that the list was exhaustive and also included three essential elements to published work online. The intro hook, a good conclusion, and a CTA to drive conversions.
We know it might be pushing it too far with the number of things we asked it to do to enhance the language, but we wanted to be comprehensive.

ChatGPT really nailed it by enhancing an article that it produced.
The CTA and suggestions were also pretty good:
The on-page optimization was on point, but we noticed that it did not incorporate the headers as we told it, too. However, another test incorporated them. (You can also switch them out manually or regenerate.)
Modifying the Prompt for Special Cases
As we’ve said earlier, this is one of the most comprehensive prompts we’ve ever engineered, but it doesn’t mean you can’t personalize it so that you have the outputs that you want.
You have the freedom to do that.
Maybe you’re writing a piece of content that won’t be published and you just strictly need the content improvement/enhancement part of the prompt.
If you fall under that category, then feel free to remove the SEO elements of the prompt!
You don’t want to be writing an email only to have it optimized with LSI keywords of your main thought now, do you?
You can re-engineer the prompt – or any prompt for that matter, to make sure it fits your needs.
At the end of the day, it’s a tool, and sometimes you have to modify your tool to make sure it serves its purposes according to the needs that you have.
