CTAs may just be a fraction of your content, but they’re arguably the most critical parts.

And, this is especially true if you have a piece of marketing copy that just can’t go to waste.

CTAs are there to turn prospects into potential customers; they could be the tipping point you need to convert them.

Here’s the problem.

Crafting great CTAs can be even more difficult than preparing the actual content itself.

A lot of experienced marketers and copywriters still struggle with the CTA section, but the good news is that we can now leverage AI to assist us in the process. In today’s guide, we take a look at how to create CTAs with ChatGPT.

Is It Advisable to Generate CTAs Using ChatGPT?

If you’re running into a bit of trouble rounding off an article, experiencing writer’s block or just don’t know where to start, generating a CTA is a good way to go.

However, if you can generate one manually, that would be even better.

The goal is to use the tool to assist you.

You don’t need to use exactly what ChatGPT generates, the goal is to create something that converts.

How to Create CTAs with ChatGPT: The Prompt

The prompt on how to create CTAs with ChatGPT is fairly simple.

We follow the BAMF method – which is the method used by pro-marketers.

It starts off with giving ChatGPT the basics of who you are, what you do and the audience that you have. This context acts as a “setting” for ChatGPT to work its magic.

The next part is what sets us apart from the rest.

We feed ChatGPT the exact piece of content that we want it to write a CTA for. This could be an existing post on a platform like LinkedIn, maybe an article that you have, or even ad copy for an ad that you have lined up. By doing, this ChatGPT knows the context in which it should be written.

Lastly, we close everything up by adding a couple of limitations on what it should be doing. In this section, you can add other nice-to-haves that you want to be included. This part can also be populated with highly specific requests that you want ChatGPT to do.

Why do we ask it to generate 10? Because why not?

At this rate, you can even ask for 25 and pick the ones that you like from the lot. It’s important for you to maximize the tool that you have.

I am a *what do you do for a living* that specializes in *your specialty* and maintains an audience of *who is your audience*. I need *how many CTAs do you require* prospective CTAs that I can use for this *what kind of content/post* post:”*the “post itself*

The CTA should encourage my prospects to *what do you want them to do? It can be a description of your services, e.g. sign up for your newsletter that promotes skills development*. It has to be engaging and it should relate to the post.

Optional(s):

The CTA should contain this link: *insert link*

The CTA should contain this keyphrase/word: *insert keyword or keyphrase*

We added a few optional prompts you can attach to the main prompt, mainly if you want to add a naked link to your CTA or if you want a keyword highlighted. This helps you customize your prompt for your own

Let’s see the prompt in action!

For the following output, we used the prompt with a generated LinkedIn post on ChatGPT.

Why is this post familiar? It’s because we featured it in one of our ChatGPT guides!

For the prompt itself, we went ahead and used this particular persona combined with our generated LinkedIn post:

I am a LinkedIn Marketer that specializes in lead generation and maintains an audience of startup founders and marketers. I need ten prospective CTAs that I can use for this LinkedIn post:

As you can see, most of the generated CTAs relate not only to the LinkedIn post but also to the section about what services we provide.

Takeaways

Writing CTAs is never easy.

I’ve met excellent copywriters who seemingly take more time writing the CTA than the marketing copy itself.

And this is all due to the importance of a CTA element.

The CTA serves as the last line that a prospect will read.

And as such, it deserves a lot of attention.

Here’s the thing.

That’s why we always advise that you should not only be generating a couple of them, you should be generating as many as you can.

After that, you need to have the human process of personalizing the CTA to make sure it resonates with your audience.

Remember, AI will only get you so far.

Everything made for humans still needs a human touch.

Stay Golden.
